My name is Imade (ee-MAH-day).
I am an award-winning journalist with three MDDC Press Association awards for my articles as a Features Writer at the Frederick News-Post. I won Best of Show, beating out Baltimore Sun and the Washington Post, for my arts and entertainment reporting. The award-winning article featured author Harriet Levin Millan who wrote "How Fast Can You Run." The book was inspired from the Sudanese refugee story of Michael Majok Kuch.
I cover arts and culture stories, but I write a bit of everything including mental health. I've done articles on police brutality, community gardening, an international African pop star, and a young woman living with advanced cancer. My bylines are in LA Weekly, VICE, WNYC, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, among others. I am currently a freelance journalist and creative writer.
